Fantabulous Cricut Deck the Halls Crawl!!!

Howdy Friends! Welcome to the third (and MY first!!) Fantabulous Cricut Crawl...Fantabulous Cricut's version of a blog hop!

In honor of the approaching Christmas holiday, we're having a "Deck The Halls" Crawl...each Design Team member will be featuring an original Christmas/Holiday-themed project that could be used to decorate and spruce up their homes for the Holiday Season!

If you've come from visiting Jean at http://jeanscraftycorner.blogspot.com/ you're in the right place! If you've just happened across my blog and would like to play along with our Fantabulous Cricut Crawl, start HERE!

Make sure to check out each DT member's blog for some awesome inspiration! There will be PRIZES along the way at our DT members' blogs, AND there will be a Grand Prize up for grabs at FCCB for one participant that submits a "Deck The Halls" project at FCCB!

How fun is that?

Now for my project - here is what I made!

I made this for my daughter's teacher for her Christmas present.  I was in a store one day and saw something like this that was a child's chair and was so stinkin' cute!  BUT it had a crazy price tag on it and I knew I could do something similar.  So I went to Michaels and bought a stool in the unfinished wood department (using a coupon of course!) and then used supplies I already had at home.  I spent less than $5.00!!  Here's how I did it:

I started by tracing the top on patterned paper.

Then I painted the sides and bottom (oh yeah, make sure you PRIME the wood first otherwise you'll be  painting several coats).  I used acrylic paint I had in my supplies.

After the paint dries - get out the Mod Podge!  I used the matte finish for this project.  Tip: put Mod Podge onto the backside of the PAPER (like glue) and then put it onto the wood.  It will help with the air bubbles by gluing the paper first instead of putting it on the stool.  Use a brayer or old card to brush out any bubbles that may be there.

Cut off excess paper with craft knife.

Ink the edges with Distress Ink.  I used Brushed Corduroy.

Tear a second piece of paper to coordinate with pattered paper.  Santa is actually fuzzy or flocked!

I then added paper trim to the bottom of the stool as an accent.

Finally, I cut the word 'BELIEVE' using the Hello Kitty Font Cartridge and the Holly image using the Winter Woodland Cartridge, then Mod Podged them to the stool after I inked the edges.

I put 2 coats of Mod Podge all over the stool as a sealer.  Now the stool is ready for little ones to wait for Santa's visit!

SO - for the PRIZE on my blog!  I am going to give away at least 1 prize - how about some lovely Prima flowers!  All you need to do is leave me a comment telling me if you have a special collection of some sort.  Mine is snowmen!  I love snowmen and they reside on my stairs from the day after Thanksgiving until the end of January (but the other decorations come down after New Year's Day!)

AND I'll give away a 2nd prize if I reach 60 followers by Friday, Dec. 17th!

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO LEAVE ME A COMMENT AND A WAY TO GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU IF YOU WIN!!!!

Now it's your turn! Let's see your Christmas/Holiday-Themed Decor projects! Make sure to include a Cricut cut somewhere on your project!

Next stop... Jill's blog! Go see what she has in store for you today... And when you're done, make sure to link up your project to FCCB's Fantabulous Cricut Crawl post to be entered into the contest!

Happy Crawling!

Gifts Galore Fantabulous Cricut Challenge

Howdy friends!!  It is getting closer to Christmas day, have you finished shopping??  No?  Me neither!!  Maybe the challenge this week at Fantabulous Cricut will help you get motivated to craft some gifts and packaging this year!  LOTS of cool ideas from the Design Team this week!!  The challenge is to create a handmade gift or gift packaging.  This week I decorated a couple of packages of gourmet cocoa for some simply 'sweet' gifts.

How cute are these??  I almost want to put these in my own stocking to open up and enjoy!  Hee hee :)  The best thing about the packaging (besides it being cute) is that I used ALL scraps!  **Not a single full sheet of paper was harmed in the making of the packaging ** ;)

Here's how I made these:
Wrap a piece of cardstock around the width of the cocoa package and cut to length, score and fold for a tight crease if desired.  Cut a rectangle decorative piece to adhere to cardstock, then cut out a tag to adhere to the decorative piece.  Cut desired image to place on the tag.  Stamp a sentiment and embellish!  Oh yeah - and I attached a chocolate dipped peppermint stick for stirring the cocoa onto the back!  Easy packaged cocoa gift!!  Have a Fantabulous Week!!  Please play along with us  - I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Supplies:
Winter Frolic Cricut Cartridge - ProvoCraft
Cardstock and Patterned Papers from stash
Sentiment Stamps, Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers, Tiny Treats: Christmas - Papertrey Inc.
Gems - The Paper Studio
Flower  -Prima
Button - stash
Sticky Doos Pop Dot - The Paper Studio

12 Tags of Christmas - Days 1 & 2

Howdy friends!! You thought I forgot about you, huh? I promise that I have not forgotten you! I've been busy craftin', scrappin', & creatin' in the studio!!! Just wanted to show you one of the many things I've been working on - Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of Christmas!! I LOVE the tags and techniques he shares with us and I made it my mission this year to create all 12 - yep - ALL 12 tags. So, I thought I'd share the first 2 days that I've finished. Not sure if I'm going to give them away or keep them all to myself! Hmmm.....

So, you too can head over to T!m's blog and learn all kinds of new techniques too! The best part for me is trying to use what I have in my own stash and use his techniques to make the tags my own. Enjoy!

Quick Card and Embellish Challenge

Howdy Friends!!  Today is a beauty of a day outside and I plan on enjoying some of it!!  First, though I wanted to share a quick card I made last night.  I received a package in the mail from a message board friend filled with all kinds of eye candy!  One particular piece of paper sang out to me - make me into a card, pronto!!  So of course I had to listen and create!  This card came together very quickly using items that came from my mail package and a couple of pieces from my stash.

Now, here is the interesting thing!  I had been planning on submitting to the color challenge for Embellish Magazine and realized that I had used all of the colors totally by accident (except for the green, but that was an easy fix!).  I plan on making some 'sweets' to give as a gift this Christmas to one of the teachers at my daughter's school, and thought this card would fit perfectly with it.  So, this card is my submission for that challenge - nothing like multi-tasking is there? :O)

I hope you enjoy this super 'sweet' card!

Supplies:
All scraps from my scrappy mail package/personal stash

Fantabulous Cricut Thankful Challenge #37

Howdy friends!  We are winding up our week getting ready for Thanksgiving!!  Yummy!  This week the challenge at Fantabulous Cricut is based on Thanksgiving - something we are thankful for.  I am thankful for so much in my life with my family and friends.  I decided to let my friends in our Small Church Community know that I'm thankful for them.  We learn so much from each other in our faith and in our daily lives.  I am making small loaves of pumpkin bread for them and tying a small note around it to let them know that our family is thankful for them.  Here are the simple cards I made:

I used Tags, Bags, Boxes & More to cut out the rectangle for card bases and squares for the orange and white pieces.  Then I stamped the turkey image on white cardstock and used Copic Markers to color him.  I'm new to Copics, so I don't have any techniques yet - but they are fun to use!!  I then stamped 'Give Thanks' around the corner of the orange square and inked all edges, then finished up with a twine 'bow.'

Here is the inside:

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!  Please head over to Fantabulous Cricut to play along with this week's challenge!!!

Cardstock - The Paper Studio, Bazzill

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday - 1st DT post!!!

Howdy friends!  Today I am so SUPER excited!!!  This is my first official post as a DT member of Fantabulous Cricut!!   Thank you to the gals over there for the opportunity!  So hang on to your hats, here we go........ (said in a Peter Pan voice!)

The challenge this week is to incorporate the color GREEN and use a CIRCLE on your card, layout, or project.  I immediately thought of a wreath and decided to adapt from a project I learned about at a local studio I love to visit, The Little Blue House.  The original project was Halloween, so I took some of the same techniques and applied it to my project.  Here is the full project:

I was at the dollar store the other day and came across this CIRCLE platter - yep, only $1!  I started gathering supplies from my stash to create the project.  For the circle embellie, I used an accordian fold techique for the larger circle, then layered on a second circle with paper, then black felt, and finished it off with 2 buttons and twine.  Super easy!

Then I cut out the tree and letters using Lyrical Letters and Winter Wonderland.  I cut a rectangle piece out of a scrap of paper, then on a second piece of paper I cut just the Merry Christmas and inked it up, then pop dotted (official term!) so it gave some depth.  Then I distressed and inked away!

The Merry banner is a strip of 2 x 12 piece cut in a banner shape, then added German Glass glitter around the edges, and also the the edges of the circle embellie!

Finally, I took a few more scraps and cut out the holly images, used Glossy Accents for stability and glued them down.  Add a nice little ribbon of whatever you have at home and admire your project!!  I just love the sparkle and the fact that I only had to purchase the platter (remember for $1), the rest was stuff I had already!!!

Thanks for stopping by today and if you have any questions, please feel free to email me!

Howdy friends!  What an exciting week this has been!  My daughter's birthday was yesterday and thanks to her for challenging me to start this blog!  Exciting things are beginning to happen for me and I'll share that news soon!  My son is off for his final band competition this weekend and we are so proud of the hard work they've put in for their performance - "Tango"!  It is awesome - my son even gets to tango during part of the show!

Enough about that - let's move on to Emma's Throwback Thursday Challenge this week!  The challenge is to create something for Christmas (or winter holidays) using the Celebrations cartridge or another older cart.  I still don't have the Celebrations cart!  Gasp!  So I used Very Merry Tags and Winter Wonderland to create this project.  Easy peasy folks!  I am making gift tags to use on presents this year - and some tags might even find their way to family members prior to Christmas - but only if Santa gives me the okay on that!!

Whatdya think?  Very simple , just cut out the tag and circles, stamp, and embellish!  Easy, quick, and cute project from leftover items!  Have a great weekend - we are going to enjoy volleyball, Fall Festival at school, Trunk or Treat at church, and mom-in-law's birthday!  Happy Halloween all!

Music is Joy

Howdy friends!  It is almost Friday!!!  I have a busy weekend coming up with band, campout, Fright Fest at Six Flags, and church.  It has been a busy month all around and I'm ready to slow down a bit!  In the midst of all of the running around, I was able to make a fun project to share!

I wanted to create this project for the Challenge Me Monday at Fantabulous Cricut this week and I knew who I was going to create this for - this is for our sweet music director at our church, which is why you will see all of the musical references in the project.  Now - the challenge is to create something with at least one leaf and as always it must have a Cricut cut in it.  Without further ado......

DISCLAIMER: I must say that I this is not my original idea.  I learned about this project from my local Crafting Studio -The Little Blue House.  This place is adorable and they have the most exciting projects and techniques to learn.  One very creative, sweet gal named Lolly designed the tree cutout and made it in Sure-Cuts-Alot, then the owner, Miss Tracy - also so sweet and generous - taught us how to make the canvas.  Now, my original canvas is all fall colors and has the words "Autumn Blessings" on it.  I love it so much!  I really wanted to make more for friends - so they were very happy to cut out a few more trees for me to purchase and take home to get creative!  Guess what - you can purchase the trees also!! (click here to find out how you can purchase them too!!)

The project you see is what I came up with on my own.

Thanks for stopping by!  I am currently finishing up another canvas, so stop by in the next couple of days to see it too!!

Supplies:
Canvas
Burnt Umber paint - Americana
Paper - DCWV, Creative Imaginations, Sassafrass Lass, scraps from my stash
Tree cutout - Little Blue House (click here to find out how you can purchase them too!!)

Let the Baking Begin!!!

Howdy and Happy Friday friends!!  It is another beauty of a day here in Texas and tonight is Homecoming for my son's high school!  Can't wait to get out to the stadium and enjoy the evening!

I have been working on a challenge this week from Fantabulous Cricut and I am ready to post it.  The challenge is to create something having to do with baking.  I LOVE to bake!  I've been thinking of doing a cookie recipe book to give to my sisters-in-law (I have 3!!) for Christmas and this challenge came along at the perfect time.  The idea kind of started a few months ago when I attended a class that showed us how to make the 'bones' of this book.  The neat thing about the class was that it was intended to give you several options - a book, banner, calendar etc.  I took that same idea and made my own cookie recipe book with some of our family favorites we enjoy at Christmastime!

Supplies:
Cereal boxes for chipboard (love that recycling!)
Variety of papers from my stash!!!
Fiskars Punch
Stapler
Brown Ink - Stampabilites
Twine - Hobby Lobby

Happy Fall Ya'll

First off - just need to wish my Dad a big ol' Happy Birthday!!!  Love ya Dad!

Howdy friends and Happy Fall!  Today I made a Fall Banner for my mantle.  This was created for a challenge issued at Fantabulous Cricut!  They have a lot of neat ideas and inspirations, so you really ought to head over there and check it out!  Fun place to hang out!

The challenge was to create a project with a gardening theme in mind.  When I think of fall gardening, I am reminded of apples, pumpkins, and leaves - hence the items on my banner!  It was a lot of fun to create AND I was able to use some recycled items as well - the banner pieces are made with cereal boxes cut on the Cricut!!  Yipee!  Cute and thrifty!  Without further ado.......

Have a super fabulous fall day!

Moxie Fab(ilicious!)

Howdy peeps!  I just have to say that I adore this pic:
It is from Moxie Fab World - a really cool site to get LOTS of inspiration from!  They have a challenge called Tuesday Trigger.  This week's challenge is to create something from the above inspiration.  Let me just tell you that there are lots of great projects over there!!  So, here is what I created - what I thought of when I saw this Lipsylicious pic!

My name is Jennifer and I am a Polish Addict!  (Hi Jenn!) I have so many colors of polish it is ridiculous and I just can't help myself!  All the pretty colors just waiting to be shown off in a great pair of sandals!  Immediately after seeing all the lovely lip colors in the Trigger Pic I knew my polish needed to be scrapped.  Well - the idea is there, but not the pic.  I'm having issues with getting it to print, but in the meantime I'm off to a pedi to showcase another pretty color of polish!  Head on over to the Moxie site and play along - you have until Sunday September 19th!

Hello Kitty Trick or Treat

Howdy friends!  I cannot believe we are well into the 2nd week of September!  I need to get the wreath and decorations out and get busy!!

Speaking of getting busy - Halloween is quickly approaching and I have several cards to make for friends and family.  My oldest niece loves Hello Kitty, so this card is inspired by that love!  Cardz TV is having a Halloween Challenge - make a Halloween card and post it to Mr. Linky on her blog by Thursday, Sept. 16th - its that easy!!

I loved how this card turned out because I was able to use all scraps from my stash AND I was able to use my newest purchase - Martha Stewart's Drippy Goo punch (40% at Hobby Lobby with coupon, thank you very much!!).

Supplies:
Paper scraps (please forgive me as I do not know all the manufacturers since these are scraps) - DCWV, Bazzill, The Paper Studio

Tropical Heatwave!

Howdy friends!  It has been H-O-T here in the great State of Texas!  But we got some relief yesterday with some rain and a cool front!  I found a great place to get lots of good information and just to have fun.  It is called Fantabulous Cricut and they issued a challenge on Monday to do a project with a Tropical theme.  All you have to do is use your Cricut for a part of your project.

Here is what I came up with:  I was relaxing in my studio, thinking "hmmm, what could be more tropical than a yummy beverage in a pineapple!!"  I found some fab papers and got to Cricuting!

Happy Anniversary!

Howdy friends!!  Today is my Anniversary! 15 years ago today, I was so blessed to marry my wonderful, dear hubby!

As I was thinking about what kind of card to make, I searched through my Cricut Carts and came across the Nuts About U on the Create a Critter.  I KNEW immediately that is what I wanted to do - so off I went to my studio where I started grabbing scraps, bits and pieces.  Before I knew it - I had a card!

Now, here is where I LOVE multi-tasking projects!  While I was checking in on all the sites I follow, My Pink Stamper and her new design team had a DT post!  Great work as always!  At the end of her post, she invited us to make a critter/animal card to share.  Head over there and  check out all of the amazing work!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Thursday!!

Sympathy Card

Howdy friends!  Today I worked on a simple card for the challenge at Cuttlebug Challenges.  The challenge is to make a sympathy card.  Now, this is not a type of card I typically think to make unless it is necessary, so this was pretty hard for me to do without making it too cutesy or froofy (is that a word??).   I used 2 cuts from the Ashlyn's Alphabet Cricut Cart, a piece of ribbon, 3 clear embellies (cannot remember the name!!), and a stamp.  Very easy, but took me forever to design!

Make sure you stop by tomorrow and see what I made for a sweet friend who just had her 3rd baby!  A girl!
